Nāpau Crater Campsite is a backcountry site in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park along the Nāpau Trail, accessible only by hiking approximately 7 miles from Mauna Ulu parking area through lava fields, rainforests, and volcanic terrain. A backcountry permit is required. Most campsites and pit toilets were covered by lava in the September 2024 eruption; limited sites remain.
