About this site
Rapids Camp offers backpacking sites located about 1.7 miles up the Iditarod Trail from Eagle River Nature Center, above a bend in the wild Eagle River with Class IV and V whitewater. It provides scenic views of the Eagle River Valley and surrounding peaks. Facilities include a latrine; bring your own toilet paper. Store food in the bear-proof locker. Water from Eagle River must be purified. Dogs are welcome. Trails are for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing; no bikes or motorized use. Additional Info: Located a short distance from Rapids Camp Yurt, suitable for rendezvous with other groups. Near trails maintained by Eagle River Nature Center.
