Pilot Knob Long Term Visitor Area (LTVA) is a BLM-managed dispersed camping area for long-term visitors, open September 15 to April 15 with fees of $180 seasonal, $80 for 4 weeks, $40 for 2 weeks; free 14-day camping April 16 to September 14. Located near Winterhaven, CA, off I-8 Exit 164 on Sidewinder Road south, the area offers spacious desert camping with historical significance including WWII Patton training site and nearby Fort Yuma Indian Reservation. Features include trash service, vault toilets, dump station, potable water, and pull-through sites suitable for big rigs.
