Ho'okena Beach Park

Ho'okena Beach Park is a tent-only beach campground on the Big Island of Hawaii, located on the site of one of the last active Hawaiian canoe fishing villages. The camping area features unmarked tent sites on sandy beach underneath tropical almond trees. Amenities include outdoor showers, portable toilets, barbecue fire pits, picnic tables, a concession stand (open 9 AM–2 PM), and beach gear rentals including kayaks and snorkels. Potable water is available throughout the park. Camping permits can be reserved online or obtained same-day on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free but limited; gates are open 6:30 AM–8:45 PM. No pets allowed. Quiet hours are 9 PM–6 AM.
