Fern Lake is a backcountry backpacking site in Yellowstone National Park's wilderness area near the east arm of Yellowstone Lake. Camping is dispersed with no established sites; a free backcountry permit is required for overnight stays. Amenities are minimal with no toilets, water, fire rings, or picnic tables—pack in and pack out following Leave No Trace principles. RVs are not permitted. The area offers scenic alpine lakes, dense forests, and mountain views, ideal for experienced backpackers.
