Butano Trail Camp

Butano Trail Camp is a backcountry camping area within Butano State Park, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Pescadero, California. The camp features 8 environmental sites accessible only by foot, approximately 5.5 miles from the trailhead parking area with a steady 2,000 feet of elevation gain. The area is surrounded by old-growth redwood forest and offers hiking, wildlife viewing, and creek exploration. Sites have pit toilets but no potable water or showers. No open fires are permitted; propane stoves only. Reservations are required and can be made up to 60 days in advance. Maximum stay is 3 nights. The camp is open year-round but is not maintained between November through April.
