Barnhouse Campground
About this site
This campground is surprisingly quiet and serene as it sits nestled among some large ponderosa pine trees just a few miles from the main highway. It also hosts the trailhead for Barnhouse Trail (#813) located in the northwest corner of the campground. This is a great location to camp in the pines and explore the National Park units in the John Day Fossil Bed National Monument. Additional Info: Free first-come first-served campground with 6-8 sites suitable for tents and small RVs up to 25 feet. Vault toilets available. No drinking water. Year-round access. Trailhead for Barnhouse Trail #813. Shaded sites in mixed conifer forest at 5100 feet elevation.
