About this site
Abel Canyon Campground is a remote, seldom-visited hike-in campsite on the Sisquoc Trail (30W1) in the San Rafael Wilderness, Los Padres National Forest. Located under a thicket of oak trees just above a perennial seep along the Sisquoc River, the site can be dark and dank due to the dense canopy and oak leaves. Features include a broken picnic table usable while seated on the ground, decent grass for horses after rare rains, and old Abel family homestead ruins nearby.
