West Tower Hunt Camp
About this site
WEST TOWER CAMPGROUND West Tower Hunt Camp is a primitive hunt camp located in the northwest portion of Osceola National Forest, approximately 6 miles from State Road 441 near Lake City. The camp serves as a central recreation hub for outdoor enthusiasts exploring the forest and provides access to the West Tower Equestrian Trails and the Florida National Scenic Trail. The facility offers a large flat grassy camping area as well as individual sites within the forest, each equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Horse stalls are available, making it particularly popular with equestrian campers. During general gun season (mid‑November to early January), all camping in the forest is restricted to designated hunt camps including West Tower. As a primitive facility, campers should come prepared for basic conditions and be self‑sufficient. The camp operates on a first‑come, first‑served basis with no reservations required. A 14‑day stay limit applies. Additional Info: West Tower Hunt Camp is a free, dispersed/primitive camping area with multiple well‑spaced sites accessible via dirt roads. Amenities include tent camping, parking, toilets (flush), and drinking water. Showers are not available at the site. During hunting season, all visitors must possess appropriate state licenses and follow Osceola National Forest hunting regulations.
