Wapiti Lake is a backcountry campsite in Yellowstone National Park, reached via a 30.6-mile there-and-back trail from Wapiti Lake Trailhead (4K7) at Chittenden Bridge Picnic Area. The trail passes through forests, meadows, lakes, and thermal basins. Permit required for overnight camping from the Backcountry Office (307) 344-2160. Additional Info: Backcountry campsites near Wapiti Lake. Campfires allowed only in designated fire rings. Food storage required in bear-resistant containers or hung 10 feet above ground.
