Vern Whitaker Horse Camp is an equestrian-only campground in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, located about 8 miles from Borrego Springs via Galletta Road. It offers 10 campsites for tents and RVs, each accommodating up to 2 horses with corrals. Amenities include restrooms, showers, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Access is via a dirt road through an orchard; popular October through April. Additional Info: Open year-round with extreme summer heat. Equestrian-focused with trails for horseback riding, hiking, stargazing, and wildlife viewing. Horses must be leashed when not in corrals.
