About this site

Upper Virginia Creek Primitive Campground is a free, developed campground operated by Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. It's smaller than its sister campground at Lower Virginia Creek (see nearby campsites below), but closer to the village of Virginia Lakes. The campground offers fire rings, vault toilet, and bear proof storage boxes. Additional Info: Rustic primitive campground adjacent to Virginia Creek surrounded by Jeffrey pines at 9,200 feet elevation. Restrooms (vault toilets) available. No potable water, no picnic tables, no trash service (pack out trash). Not recommended for trailers over 25 feet due to tight turns. Open late May to mid-October as weather allows. Free California Camp Fire Permit required for fires. Dogs must be on leash.
