Talbot Campground is located on French Meadows Reservoir. Campground is in close proximity to the Granite Chief Wilderness. Campsites will be closed October 24th-28th. Additional Info: Talbot Campground is a small, primitive campground in Tahoe National Forest at 5,600 feet elevation, five miles above French Meadows Reservoir. It offers 5 tent-only sites along the Middle Fork American River. The campground is situated within a state game refuge; firearms are prohibited. Horses are not permitted inside campground boundaries, though hitching posts are available outside. Access is via a 36-mile drive on Mosquito Ridge Road and is dependent on snow conditions. Typical season runs from late spring through fall.
