About this site

South Rim 3 (SR-3, formerly SW3) is a hike-in backcountry campsite on a high volcanic mesa in Big Bend National Park with excellent views of Sierra Quemada, Mule Ears, and Sierra Ponce. This large site accommodates up to 10 people and 5 tents, with adequate shade but exposed to wind. Accessed via Laguna Meadows Trail (5.6 miles) or Pinnacles Trail (7 miles). No water available; carry at least 1 gallon per person per 24 hours. Pets not allowed on trails. Overnight parking at Chisos Basin Amphitheater.
