Snake Hot Springs
About this site
Snake Hot Springs is a natural hot spring feature in Yellowstone National Park's Snake River backcountry, accessible via the South Boundary Trail. It features large steaming pools with unique colors, patterns, and textures, fed by a small thermal stream crossed by a footbridge. A hidden soak spot exists where the hot stream meets the cold Snake River. Nearby backcountry campsites include 8C1 (gorgeous but farther from facilities) and 8C6. Additional Info: Located approximately 4 miles along the trail from certain access points, with social trails through tall grass leading to the springs. Visitors must exercise extreme caution near the pools and follow Leave No Trace principles, including digging cat-holes at least 200 yards from water sources.
