Rocky Run Shelters

Rocky Run Shelters are backcountry shelters on the Appalachian Trail near Boonsboro, Maryland, on the western slope of South Mountain. There is an original shelter that sleeps six with a flat floor, and a newer shelter that sleeps up to sixteen with a wood floor, plywood-floored loft, covered front deck, and large windows. Located next to Rocky Run spring, 0.2 miles off the main trail via spur, 5 miles south of Crampton Gap Shelter and 7.5 miles north of Pine Knob Shelter. Amenities include two decks, grill pit, porch swing, semi-enclosed privy, nearby tent pads, and fire pits. Additional Info: Managed by Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC). Free, no fee required.
