RED CLOUD -NEW (Campground) Additional Info: Small (5 sites) quiet and primitive camp in a Ponderosa forest at 7,600 feet elevation. Located near an old mining district in the Gallinas Mountains. The campground gets heavy use in fall hunting seasons, less at other times. Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. No potable water available. Restrooms and picnic tables are available. The campground features long back-in sites that can accommodate full-sized RVs. Surrounding Ponderosa forest provides opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and exploring the area's mining history.
