About this site

Pyrites Creek Camp is a wilderness backcountry campsite within Olympic National Park, located along the East Fork Quinault River Trail approximately 9.2-9.5 miles from the Graves Creek Trailhead. The camp features 12 total campsites (6 on each side of Pyrites Creek) situated in an elegant Bigleaf Maple grove. Sites are located on both sides of the creek, providing riverside access and scenic views. The camp serves as an ideal base for day hikes to the nearby Enchanted Valley and its historic Chalet, located approximately 3-3.2 miles further along the trail. Bear wires are available for food storage. Water is accessible from Pyrites Creek and the East Fork Quinault River (purification required). Pre-existing fire rings are present. No pit toilets are available; waste must be buried 6-8 inches deep and 200 feet from water sources and campsites. Access is by foot only via the East Fork Quinault River Trail, which is rated as difficult with approximately 917 feet of elevation gain over the 9.2-mile distance.
