Ponderosa Group Campground

Ponderosa Group Campground is located within Bandelier National Monument, 6 miles from the park's main entrance. The campground features 2 group campsites accommodating 10-50 people per site, ideal for scout groups, church groups, or large gatherings. Sites are tent-only with one RV per site accommodated in the parking area. The campground is adjacent to Ponderosa Trailhead, providing access to more than 70 miles of hiking trails. Located at 7,600 feet elevation, the area is usually free of snow from mid-April through mid-October. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water (available May-October), picnic shelter, picnic tables, food storage lockers, and campfire rings. No hookups are available. Water is not available during months with freezing temperatures (potentially mid-October to mid-May). Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:30 AM. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights.
