Pinicon Alders Wildlife Area

Pinicon Alders Wildlife Area is a 350-acre habitat located about 1 mile northwest of McIntire, Iowa at 3133 470th St. The area features diverse natural habitats including mature hardwood forest, native prairies, and wetlands. Overnight camping is available in rustic log cabins (constructed in the 1950s, $25/night) and modern cabins ($50/night), each accommodating up to 6 people. Cabins include electricity, picnic tables, and fire rings. The Wapsi-Great Western Line Trail runs through the area, offering both paved and unpaved hiking trails. The site is open year-round with check-in after 3:00 PM and check-out by 1:00 PM. Reservations can be made by contacting (641)-732-5204.
