Pigmans Ferry Hiker-Biker Campsite is one of 31 primitive campsites spaced approximately every 5 to 7 miles along the 184.5-mile C&O Canal towpath within Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. Located at mile 169.1 near Cumberland, Maryland. Accessible only to hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. Free, first-come first-served, limited to one-night stays, no reservations. Amenities include portable toilet (year-round), picnic table, grill. Non-potable water available mid-April to mid-November (filter, treat, or boil before use); turned off mid-November to mid-April. Fires restricted to provided grills or portable grills off ground; coals must be removed.
