Old Sawmill Campsite
About this site
Old Sawmill Campsite is a hike-in site along the Pine Mountain Trail, approximately 2.4 miles west from the WJSP-TV tower parking lot trailhead or 2.2 miles from the east. The designated campsite and metal fire-ring are 226 feet off the trail. The site has a good water source from a stream alongside the trail, with the best access point signed 75 feet east of the entrance. There are two fire rings, accommodating 7-8 tents or 15-18 backpackers. The name derives from a sawmill located nearby over 80 years ago. A notable landmark is Ferney, a large pine tree 14.5 feet in circumference west of the entrance.
