About this site
Nadelos Campground is the most easily accessible BLM campground in the southern portion of the King Range National Conservation Area, located just two miles from Shelter Cove Road and ten minutes from downtown Shelter Cove. The campground features 8 tent sites nestled in thick forest with lush moss and a trickling creek, creating a beautiful natural setting for those seeking overnight basics and easy trail access. Campers have access to Bear Creek for water collection, though all water must be treated before drinking as no potable water is available on-site. Nadelos serves as a trailhead for several popular routes, including the Bear Creek Nature Trail that connects to Wailaki Campground, the Chemise Mountain Trail, and access points to the Southern Lost Coast Trail and Sinkyone Wilderness. The entire campground can be reserved for group use accommodating 20-60 people, though group reservations are not available during Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day weekends. Visitors should be aware of hazard trees and low-hanging branches that can fall during high winds. Additional Info: Facilities: 8 tent campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets.
