About this site

Mount LeConte Shelter is a 3-sided backcountry shelter located on Mt. LeConte, the third highest peak in Great Smoky Mountains National Park at approximately 6,500 feet elevation. It is accessible only by hiking trails such as Alum Cave or Rainbow Falls, with no vehicle access. Reservations are required through the park's Backcountry Office at (865) 436-1231, ideally made at least a month in advance. Additional Info: Shelter is situated just off the Appalachian Trail near cliff tops with amazing scenery views.
