About this site

Dispersed camping area along Forest Road 117 near Monjeau Peak Lookout in Lincoln National Forest. Dispersed camping is permitted on the southern side of the road between the start of the trail and the Villa Madonna neighborhood. During the motorized access season (May 1 to October 31), dispersed camping is also permitted on either side of the road past the neighborhood. The Monjeau Peak Lookout is a historic fire lookout tower built in 1936 and reconstructed in 1940 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The road is typically accessible to most vehicles in good weather, though it is steep in places and closes during winter. Skyline Campground with vault toilets and picnic tables is available as an alternative nearby.
