Middle Quartz Campground
About this site
The area is part of the mineral belt that extends into Leadville. Many of the four-wheel drive roads were created by miners over 100 years ago, which are now popular for four-wheel driving in the summer and fall months. The campground is near the Alpine Tunnel historic site. Fee info: Overnight Use: Single Site: $14 per night Additional Vehicle Fee: $7 per night Day Use: $6 per vehicle per day Additional Info: Remote, rustic campground with 10 first-come, first-served sites in Gunnison National Forest. Vault toilets available. No potable water. Seasonal operation late May to early October, weather dependent. Access via Forest Road 765 then 767. Quiet hours 10pm-6am. Suitable for vehicles up to 20 feet.
