Merrick State Park Campground
About this site
Merrick State Park is a 322-acre Wisconsin state park located on the backwaters of the Mississippi River near Fountain City, bordered by the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge. The park features 65 individual campsites distributed across three distinct campgrounds, plus a 50-person group tent site, making it ideal for both RV campers and tent enthusiasts. The North Campground contains 25 sites including 22 with electrical hookups and a flush toilet shower building. Site 6 is ADA accessible. The South Campground offers 35 campsites, with 28 directly on the waterfront overlooking Fountain City Bay, though it may close during Mississippi River flood years until waters recede. The Island Campground features five family walk-in tent sites and the group site, accessible by road despite being on an island, with pit toilets, drinking water, boat launches, and a log shelter. Registered campers can moor boats overnight at their campsites. The park includes a dump station, recycling station, and dumpsters near the entrance contact station. Firewood is available for purchase. Additional Info: There are 3 miles of hiking trails, and two boat landings provide easy launching for boats of all sizes. All island campground sites and some sites in the south campground have river access for mooring watercraft or fishing directly from the sites.
