Mattole Campground
About this site
A car accessible campground by the beach. There is a parking lot with pit toilets at the entrance, which functions as a common starting point for Lost Coast trail hikers. Not much privacy or space between sites. Nearby there is a road which leads up the cliffs into public lands. There is a 4x4 split which can get you within a 1.5 mi hike to the Punta Gorda lighthouse which features a nearby elephant seal colony. Trailers or large RVs are not recommended as Mattole rd. is steep and rough. Additional Info: 23 tent/trailer campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. No hookups. Lost Coast Trailhead and parking area. Wheelchair accessible. Stay limit 14 days per calendar year within the King Range NCA.
