About this site
Backpack shelter on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail in Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit. Located southeast of Kewaskum, less than 0.5 miles north of County Highway H. Set in a maple forest with a dirt floor and sleeping benches on three sides. Pit toilet available. Water from insulated wellhead spigot behind the entrance station at Mauthe Lake. Parking available at small lot on County Highway S (no park sticker required) or at Mauthe Lake entrance (park sticker required). Camping permit required; reservations available year-round through Wisconsin DNR reservation system.
