John Hands Campground is a small, free tent-only campground in Cave Creek Canyon of the Coronado National Forest near Portal, Arizona. It features 6 individual sites with tables and fire grills in a riparian setting along the South Fork of Cave Creek, known for cascades and waterfalls. Birdwatching and wildlife viewing opportunities are available, with nearby Forest trails. No hookups, no drinking water, vault toilet available. Pack in/pack out. Tent camping only; walk-in from parking area. No pack or saddle stock permitted. Additional Info: Elevation: 5,600 feet. Open year-round. Road access is paved except last mile, suitable for passenger vehicles.
