About this site

Hendersonville Reservoir Road (FS 142) roadside campsites provide dispersed camping opportunities in the popular Mills River area of Pisgah National Forest. These designated roadside camping spots are located along the forest service road leading to the Hendersonville Reservoir and Trace Ridge area. The sites follow the Pisgah Ranger District's dispersed camping guidelines, where camping is only allowed at designated roadside locations rather than randomly throughout the forest. The campsites typically feature basic amenities including parking areas, tent pads, and fire rings. Like other dispersed sites in Pisgah, these locations operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are popular among campers accessing the extensive trail system in the Mills River area. The road provides access to Fletcher Creek Trail and other recreational opportunities in this section of the national forest. Additional Info: Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. Occasional weekday access restrictions may occur during reservoir construction or maintenance activities. Sites can fill up quickly, especially on weekends during peak season.
