Dispersed camping Additional Info: Hartman Rocks Recreation Area includes over 14,000 acres of public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The recreation area offers 50 dry/primitive campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees. No hookups, potable water, or developed facilities are available. One designated ADA campsite is located along BLM Road 3500. Accessible restrooms are located at The Base Area and at the intersection of BLM Roads 3505 and 3500. Access from Gunnison: head 3 miles south on County Road 38 (Gold Basin Road) or take State Highway 50 west for 4 miles and turn south on County Road 32, continuing south for 2 miles to BLM 3500. Roads and trails south of Powerline Road are closed March 15–May 15 for Gunnison Sage-grouse conservation.
