Hancock Recreation Area

Hancock Recreation Area is a 28-acre campground situated on Portage Lake, one mile west of downtown Hancock on M-203. The facility offers 72 campsites: 58 for recreational vehicles with electric power and 14 tent sites. Campsites are situated in a natural rustic setting among densely wooded conifers and northern hardwoods. The campground features restrooms, shower facilities, laundry, and a boat ramp. All thoroughfares are blacktopped with streetlights for nighttime safety and police patrol. The park includes over one mile of lakeshore frontage with a 300-foot sand beach, swimming pier, playground equipment, volleyball and horseshoe courts. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available. The facility is open to the public from May 15 to October 15. Daily fees apply for campsites; beach use is free. Firewood and ice are available for purchase.
