Hamilton Barn Environmental Camp
About this site
Hamilton Barn Environmental Camp is located on an old homestead site within Humboldt Redwoods State Park, approximately 6 miles west of the Avenue of the Giants on Mattole Road. The camp features three walk-in sites, with two nestled under second growth redwoods and one in an open meadow along the north side of Bull Creek. Each site requires a short walk of 50–200 yards from the parking area and is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear locker for food storage. Pit toilets and untreated water are available on-site. The camp is open May through September and operates on a reservation system. Campers must register at any open campground entrance station to receive the gate combination for the parking area. This environmental camp offers a peaceful, natural experience ideal for those seeking solitude and a closer connection to the redwood forest. Maximum stay is 30 nights per calendar year per park, with no more than 15 nights permitted during summer season. Pets are not allowed.
