Rustic state forest campground nestled on Guernsey Lake's north shore amidst oak and pine hills, offering 35 campsites for tents and small trailers, including 8 walk-in sites. Located in Kalkaska County within the Pare Marquette State Forest, 8 miles west of Kalkaska via Island Lake and Campground roads. Adjacent to Sand Lakes Quiet Area, which offers 8.5 miles of looped trails rated moderate with flat to very hilly terrain. The Sand Lakes Quiet Area Pathway connects to the North Country Trail, a national scenic trail. Guernsey Lake is 50 acres with excellent fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, bluegill, brown trout, perch and sunfish. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water from well-hand pump. No reservations; sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
