Gooding City of Rocks Dispersed Area
About this site
BLM dispersed camping area located 12.5 miles north of Gooding on Highway 46. The area features unique rock formations including towers, hoodoos, mushroom caps, spires, and natural arches. Primitive, self-support camping is allowed. Access is via a graded dirt road suitable for most vehicles, approximately 2 miles from the highway turnoff. The main trail penetrates the heart of the rock formations and takes a couple of hours to explore, with side trails leading to additional formations. Ancient petroglyphs carved by Native Americans are present in the area. Wildlife may include coyotes, rabbits, and hawks. Rattlesnakes may be present in warmer months. Visitors should bring plenty of water. Standard BLM dispersed camping rules apply (up to 14 days out of 28 days).
