overnight shelter located on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and coincident Long Trail Additional Info: Backcountry hiking shelter in Glastenbury Wilderness of Green Mountain National Forest, maintained by Green Mountain Club. Open year-round first-come first-served, no fees. Water from spring 150 feet south (treat/filter). Composting toilet on site. Fires allowed. Pets allowed. Access via 10-mile strenuous hike north from Route 9 in Bennington. Trail not maintained for winter use. Bear activity reported; proper food storage required.
