Additional Info: East Rim 9 is a backpacking campsite located 6.5 to 8 miles from Chisos Basin Trailhead via Pinnacles/Boot Canyon or Laguna Meadows Trails, along a high lava plateau overlooking Sierra Quemada desert and Mexico. Maximum 6 people, 2 tents. Campers must pack out human waste using a waste disposal kit due to toilet destruction by South Rim Fire. Pets not allowed on trails. Nice site close to the rim, sheltered in trees 100-200 ft from trail; short walk provides panoramic views.
