East Rim 8: Great campsite with abundant shade. Close to the rim. Additional Info: Backcountry backpacking campsite located 6.5 to 8 miles from Chisos Basin Trailhead via Pinnacles/Boot Canyon or Laguna Meadows Trails. Situated along a 1.5-mile section of trail on a high lava plateau overlooking Sierra Quemada desert and Mexico, 100-200 ft into trees from rim. Maximum 6 people, 2 tents. Pack out human waste using waste disposal kit due to destroyed toilet. Pets not allowed on trails.
