Johnson Park
About this site
Located at the north end of Lake Fort Phantom Hill, next to the dam, Johnson Park is largely a day-use area for picnics. However, camping is still permitted here by city ordinance, but there are no RV sites. Rather, you're expected to park in the parking lots, and set up tents on the grounds. You can still technically sleep inside your van, truck, or SUV, as long as your vehicle can fit in a parking space. Additional Info: Designated camping sites are available only with the purchase of a permit from the City of Abilene Parks and Recreation Department. Permits must be purchased in person or online. Sites are first come, first served.

Nice place next to the lake but it's very windy, like frogs are being blown around when they hop level of windy. There is some loose signage that rattles in the wind.
