Cuneo Creek Horse Camp
About this site
Cuneo Creek Horse Camp is a specialized equestrian campground located in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, reserved exclusively for park visitors who bring their horses to ride. Situated on an old homestead prairie at the base of a ridge, surrounded by 100-year-old apple and pear trees, the campground features five family campsites and two group campsites. Each family site accommodates up to eight people and two horses, with a picnic table, fire ring, bear locker, and two 12'x12' metal pipe corrals. The campground provides treated water, flush toilets, coin-operated hot showers, a mounting platform, water troughs, tie rails, and a sand rolling pit for horses. The two group sites can accommodate larger parties: Site A holds up to 65 people with 22 corrals, and Site B holds up to 25 people with 12 corrals. Both group sites include picnic tables, bear lockers, oversized fire rings, and group-size barbeque grills. The campground offers access to miles of trails through old-growth and second-growth redwood forests. Open May through September, with site-specific reservations available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Maximum stay is 7 consecutive nights. The park does not have riding stables or offer guided trail rides.
