Comstock Campground

Comstock Campground is in the Rock Creek Drainage 18 miles southwest of Monte Vista. has 7 sites. All sites are dead end spurs and vary from 35 to 40 feet in length. The South Fork of Rock Creek provides fishing. Hiking trails include: Alamosa River to Rock Creek Trail 703, North Fork Rock Creek Trail 704 and South Fork Rock Creek Trail 702. Motorcycles are allowed on Trails 702 and 703. ATV's less than 50 inches wide are allowed on Trail 702 and it connects over to Blowout Pass. The campground facilities include 7 sites with tables and fireplaces, and ample parking space for trailhead parking. There are no refuse receptacles. Maneuvering space for large trailers is somewhat limited. Additional Info: Elevation: 9,700 feet. Vault toilet provided. No water or trash service available; pack out all garbage. Open year-round but may be inaccessible due to snow or spring road closures. 14-day camping limit. Dogs must be on leash not longer than six feet. Horses not allowed in campground. Fires allowed in designated fire rings only. Bear country—store food properly.
