About this site
Colima 1 is the largest backpacking campsite in the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park, suitable for groups up to 15 people and 5 tents. It is located along the 1-mile Colima Trail, which connects the Pinnacles/Boot Canyon Trail with the Laguna Meadow Trail. Access is 4.5 miles via Pinnacles Trail or 4.3 miles via Laguna Meadow Trail from Chisos Basin trailhead. The site has its own private spur trail, is well protected from sun and wind, and hidden from the main trail. Boot Spring provides seasonal water nearby that must be treated; carry at least 1 gallon per person per day. Hammocks prohibited. Parking at Chisos Basin trailhead.
