About this site
Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area offers 35 primitive campsites equipped with picnic tables, tent pads, lantern posts, and campfire rings with grills. The facility provides hot showers and restrooms with flush toilets. It is adjacent to the South Toe River at 2,900 feet elevation in Pisgah National Forest, ideal for swimming, fishing, tubing, hiking, and relaxing.

Site 23 was nice, but on the road. Road was louder than expected, with a few cars traveling throughout the night (and with hwy 80 currently partially closed, I would expect more traffic when it reopens) Would go back if I could find a site by the river or at the top of the loop if I had to be on the back loop. Back loop is definitely more secluded due to day use visitors at the river. Didn’t use the showers but bathrooms were good. Super nice river access area.
