Brooks Lake
About this site
Brooks Lake Campground is a remote, high-elevation campground located at 9,200 feet in the Shoshone National Forest, approximately 27 miles north of Dubois, Wyoming. The campground features 13 sites nestled around the picturesque Brooks Lake, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and geological formations including nearby Pinnacle Butte. Each campsite includes RV parking, tent pads, bear boxes for required food storage, fire rings with grills, and picnic tables. The maximum spur length is 32 feet, accommodating most RVs and trailers. The campground serves as a gateway to the Washakie Wilderness, with trails leading to numerous alpine lakes and backcountry destinations. Popular activities include fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and boating on Brooks Lake. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and does not accept reservations. Due to the high elevation and remote location, be prepared for cold nights even in summer and bring your own water, as potable water is not available. The site is not accessible to those with mobility impairments and has a 16-day stay limit.
