Boot Canyon 1

Boot Canyon 1 is a hike-in backcountry campsite located in Boot Canyon, 4.5 miles from the Chisos Basin Trailhead via the Pinnacles Trail. All campsites are along a 1/2 mile spur trail. This is a large site with many trees, close to the composting toilet and spur trail. The area is heavily wooded with great shade and wind protection but no distant views. Maximum 6 people, 2 tents. Hammocks prohibited. Bears and other animals are frequently seen; use bear box and never leave food unattended. No wood or ground fires permitted. Boot Spring is seasonal water source that must be treated; check with ranger for current flow. Plan to carry at least one gallon of water per person per 24 hours.
