Blind Island Campsite 3
About this site
Blind Island is a small, three-acre marine camping park located on the north side of Shaw Island in San Juan County, Washington. All campsites are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are for the exclusive use of boaters arriving by human or wind-powered watercraft. The island is a designated site along the Cascadia Marine Trail. Blind Island is open year-round with very primitive camping. There is no fresh water available on site. A composting toilet is available, but no trash facilities exist—pack out everything you pack in. Access can be challenging due to the rocky and shallow landing. Best access is at a small pocket cove at the southwest side of Blind Island. Additional Info: The island has 4 buoys for watercraft to dock on and four campsites. Visitors can see remnants of an orchard planted by the family who homesteaded here prior to the park's establishment in 1970. The area is cooperatively managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and Washington State Parks as part of the San Juan Islands National Monument.
