Birch Creek Campground
About this site
Birch Creek Campground is a small Bureau of Land Management site nestled at 6,755 feet at the foot of the Monte Cristo Mountains in Rich County. The campground features 4 walk-in tent sites approximately 50 yards from the parking area, while RV camping is permitted directly in the parking lot. No fees are charged for camping. The campground is ideally positioned between two reservoirs that are stocked annually with game fish, including excellent tiger trout fishing. Access to the reservoirs is walk-in only with non-motorized watercraft permitted. Basic amenities include toilet facilities and parking, making it a convenient base for anglers and those seeking a quiet, low-impact camping experience. Access is via a dirt road approximately 9-10 miles west of Woodruff on State Route 39. The road receives no winter maintenance, so access during winter months may be difficult or impossible depending on snow conditions.
