About this site

Beehive Dispersed Camping and Day Use Area is a shoreline camping area located on the Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake at 1,067 feet elevation within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This is a first-come, first-served shoreline area with no designated campsites, allowing visitors to choose their own spots along the lakeshore. During peak season (May 9 - September 11), portable restrooms and trash service are provided, and a fee of $12-$18 per night applies. During off-season (mid-September to mid-May), the area remains accessible but operates as true dispersed camping with no facilities, no fees, and pack-in/pack-out requirements. There are no picnic tables or fire rings; a campfire permit is required. The area is popular for water-based recreation including water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, swimming, and tubing. Informal mooring is allowed when water levels are sufficient. A public boat ramp is located approximately 1 mile away at Sugarloaf. Maximum vehicle length is 30 feet. Pets are allowed. The surrounding landscape features steep mountains covered in manzanita and evergreens, with Mount Shasta visible in the distance.
