The low elevation for the Ash Creek Campground allows it to open earlier in the season than others at higher elevations.Fishing is always good at Ash Creek as it is stocked by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. There are lots of good spots for fly fishing within walking distance of the campground.Please do not create resource damage by driving on sofeet roads or saturated soil. Remember theweather can change quickly and you do not want to be unpreparedfor extreme conditions.There is aboil water advisory.Located just past Ash Creek Campground is the Red Tail Rim Trail south trailhead. This trail is open to equestrian, mountain biking and foot travel. The trail is around 22 miles in length and itsnorth trailhead is along highway 299 north of Canby. Additional Info: Ash Creek Campground is situated at a lower elevation in the Big Valley Ranger District of Modoc National Forest. The campground features seven first-come, first-served sites surrounded by sagebrush and juniper woodland. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets but no water or garbage service. Visitors must bring all water needed for drinking, cooking, and washing, and pack out all trash. A boil water advisory is in effect for any natural water sources. The campground operates on a 14-day stay limit and allows dogs on leash only.
